Villa Maria Grazia – in an orange grove on a dream beach
Between the shrubland, lemon groves and olive trees, the Villa Maria Grazia lies in the heart of the enchanting landscape of Chia with its breath-taking beaches, which are just a short stroll away. If you walk for some 700 metres, across a romantic wooden bridge and along the "Sa Sali" lagoon with its pink flamingos, you'll reach the wonderfully soft sand of "Su Giudeu", a jewel of a beach surrounded by dunes and wild scrubland facing the turquoise-coloured sea. All around lie the deep green hills of Chia, many of which are totally undeveloped, because thanks to the region's strict planning laws, there are only a few houses here.
Plenty of space – inside and outside
The Villa Maria Grazia is a very spacious house that offers its guests plenty of space inside and outside. The villa has two bathrooms and three air-conditioned bedrooms with a total of seven beds. All the beds can be used as single beds or put together as double beds. The sleeping area is separated by a few steps from the bright living room, in which a large sofa area is grouped around the satellite television. Apart from a large dining table in the living area, there is another smaller table in the kitchen, which is also equipped with a dishwasher and small table-top oven. Following the typically Sardinian tradition, the kitchen also has an open fire – this is where Sardinian families grill their "Porchetto" (suckling pig), a regional delicacy.
The outside areas around the Villa are perfect for enjoying the warmth of the south to the full. In the lovingly maintained garden with lawns, you'll always find a sunny spot away from the midday heat between the carob and olive trees. A cool drink, a good book – this is the way to relax! An outside shower is also provided for you to cool down or to use after you've been to the beach.
The Villa's large covered terrace is furnished and will become your "open-air living room", where you can breakfast in the warming rays of the morning sun or enjoy the view over the surrounding orange and olive groves over dinner. In the warm evening air, listening to the crickets and cicadas, this is the ideal place to round off a perfect day.
There are around 6-7 beaches in total along the Chia coast, all of which are beautiful and worth a visit.
In the main season, a number of pretty beach bars and restaurants are open within easy walking distance. There is also a small but excellent hotel around two minutes' walk away, and visitors from outside are welcome to dine in its restaurant if they book. Walk on a few minutes more and you will reach a 9-hole golf course (pitch and putt), which is directly behind the beach – a wonderful treat for golfers. You can also reach a supermarket and the Piazzetta of the Grand Hotel Chia Laguna with restaurant and pizzeria in around fifteen minutes on foot (open from around the middle of June to the beginning of October).
A short trip by car will take you to other shopping facilities and restaurants nearby, and it is also possible to buy fruit and vegetables fresh from farmers. The main town of Chia, Domus de Maria, can be reached in 10 minutes by car. There is a weekly market here, plus a post office, bank, small shops and a good trattoria. In addition, as an alternative to the beach life and in the low season, it is possible to go on lovely walks from here in the cool forest of Is Cannoneris. Around 20 km away lies the very lively, larger town of Pula, which is ideal for an evening stroll or a shopping trip.
